Rainy Day Budget was first released as a desktop application in June 2008. It was immediately successful, receiving over 10,000 downloads in the first 5 months of being released. After two years in release and over 35,000 downloads, development began on a web-based version of Rainy Day Budget, which included some of the most requested feature additions. In September 2010, the Rainy Day Budget website was launched. While Rainy Day Budget is offered to the world as a free service, there are certain operating costs associated with hosting a website.
